Are you looking for traction sheaves? You can find them at Bakker & Co. In traction elevators, the car and counterweight are suspended by hoist cables that run through the grooves of the traction sheave. The weight of the elevator car is lighter than the counterweight, requiring less energy to move the elevator.
Friction between the hoist cables and the grooves of the traction sheave causes the car to move up or down. Once the counterweight or car reaches its buffers in the shaft pit, the pressure on the hoist cables is released and the machine begins to slip. The buffers ensure that the elevator can never run far beyond its upper or lower stopping point.
